Mohawk College Classic Tournament Rules- All Divisions
1. Softball Canada and P.W.S.A. playing rules apply. Exception is that all players bat in the batting line-up and unlimited defensive substitutions. If a player is injured or becomes ill, they will be removed from the game and their spot in the batting order will be skipped without penalty to the team. In the U19 division coaches may choose to bat 9 players and substitute according to Softball Canada rules. Please inform the team prior to the game if you are choosing to do this. 2. Teams must be ready to play at least 15 minutes before the scheduled game time. 3. Home team will be decided by the flip of a coin administered by the game umpires. 4. The home team will be the game’s “official scorekeeper”. 5. The home plate umpire is responsible for administering the game time limit. The official start time will be confirmed by the home plate umpire at the time of the first pitch. 6. There will be no infield practice on the game diamonds. 7. A game is 7 innings with no inning to start after 1 hour and 30 minutes during round robin. If the home team is at bat or is about to bat, and is ahead when the time limit runs out, the game becomes official at that point. Playoff games will be 7 innings with no new inning to start after 1 hour and 30 minutes for all divisions. The Gold/Silver games will be 7 innings or a 1 hour 45-minute time limit. 8. Round robin games that end in a tie will be declared a tie and each team will be awarded 1 point for that game. 9. Run ahead for all divisions including the U19 division is 15 runs after 2.5 or 3 innings, 10 runs after 4.5 or 5 innings. 10. Tie breakers and the ranking of teams after the round robin games will be determined in the following order. A) Head to head competitions. B) Plus/minus with a maximum of plus or minus 10 for each game. C) Least runs against D) Most runs scored E) Coin toss Teams who have a concern regarding runs for and against may wish to consider batting first if they win the coin toss. 11.
